Vegas I know I don't ever use this journal anymore, but I wanted to post something that I'm not quite comfortable putting on any of my other online thingamabobs.
During the four days that hermitgeecko and I were in Las Vegas, I interacted with dozens of people directly and probably hundreds indirectly, just walking down the strip. And... not a single person misread me. I never once got called "sir", not a single person looked at me funny because I was wearing skirts and dresses, and (well, this IS Vegas) no one tried to hand me advertisements for escort services.
I kept expecting at least one double-take, at least one look of "what are you doing in this bathroom", but it never came. And that... that was so wonderful. It's been a very, very long time since I walked down the street and didn't feel like people were looking at me funny, and though I've grown a very thick skin to it, it's still really incredibly nice not to feel that pressure.
My life really does feel right right now. It's a good feeling.

Boston-area people with cars? Hi there! I realize I don't ever post anymore, but I wanted to put out a call to the people I know in Boston, and this seemed like the most reliable way to do it.
I'm going to be flying into Norwood Memorial Airport this coming Monday, 8/22, and flying back out the following day. I can take the commuter rail into town if necessary, but it'd be pretty cool if someone with a car would be willing to give me and my flight instructor a lift one or both days. I should be arriving early afternoon Monday (the current plan is for wheels-down sometime around 1:30, but I won't have a more accurate time until the day of), and leaving sometime Tuesday morning.
Anyway, anyone can manage it, it'd certainly make my life a bit easier, and I will totally buy you lunch or dinner or something. :)
(Also, for anyone that doesn't know already: I'm training to be a pilot! How cool is that.)

Dance Central! So there's this new game by Harmonix (of Rock Band fame) called Dance Central. If you haven't heard of it, you should check it out-- it's a game where it teaches you to ACTUALLY DANCE. And it's a lot of fun! Anyway, I'm inviting folks over to my place tomorrow to try it out and possibly have some sort of food and hangouts, so if you're interested, come on by anytime after 11! If you don't have my address, just comment and I'll send it to you, or if you're friends with me on the Facebook, it's listed there. See some of you around, maybe!

Moving help? Yes, I know, I've been failing to exist lately. Perhaps at some point my life will be a little bit less hectic. For now, though, Emma and I are moving tomorrow and if there's anyone in the Rockville area that isn't busy, we'd love a hand loading and unloading boxes and furniture. There will be pizza and probably movies once we settle into the new place. Anyone available?

![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/55741689/274938) [Link] | Today I discard my velour brown paisley pants. I totally rocked the look, but all good things, as they say...

- 06:46 Penny Arcade links to a silly Fox News video I feel should end with masked men busting down the door in the background: tr.im/MESZ #
- 08:10 You know what I hate? The term "pro-choice" is fairly accurate, but "pro-life" is really just a euphemism for "anti-abortion". #
- 08:57 @chickgonebad Sure, but forced eugenics programs are also "anti-choice", at the other end of the spectrum. "Anti-abortion" is more accurate. #
- 11:09 @nirin_tani More that "pro-life" is a meaningless construct, like "pro-good". I mean, if you're again
st us you obviously HATE LIFE, ASSHOLE. # - 11:11 @nirin_tani If they spent half as much time and money improving the general welfare as defeating abortion, I'd accept the "pro-life" label. #
- 11:13 @nirin_tani Note that this is just a semantic argument. I don't begrudge anti-abortionists their views, I just hate what they call them. #
- 11:19 @chickgonebad Yes, the same people espouse both beliefs, but "pro-life" is specifically used as a label for their anti-abortion efforts. #
- 11:26 @chickgonebad I, personally, am anti-life and plan to destroy human civilization utterly. #muahaha #
- 12:09 @nirin_tani Contrast "anti-apartheid" and "anti-war". Google shows anti-war outnumbers pro-peace 2:1. #
- 16:05 @BrianCanFly I just typeset a book in a very pretty serif called Gentium. #
